Lysimachia punctata - Yellow Loosestrife
15 open pollinated seeds from our gardens for $4.00.
Lysimachia punctata is an excellent long lasting cut flower. The large, funnel-shaped flowers, each 4cm across, are generously borne on tall spikes in summer. This is a vigorous spreading perennial plant that has attractive whorled leaves. This plant is well suited to moist positions by the side of pools or streams and will tolerant some shade. I grow mine in a pot placed into a pond and I have another one growing in the meadow garden. Height 90cm.
Sow seeds in autumn as they need exposure to the cold to germinate. Seeds will start to germinate at around 15-20C and will take 30-90 days but can be erratic. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots and grow on. Acclimatise and plant out after danger of frost has passed with 50cm spacing.
