Bunny Tails - Lagurus ovatus
15 open pollinated seeds from our gardens for $4.00.
Bunny Tails - Lagurus ovatus is an annual ornamental grass with plumes of white fluffy flowers that look like bunny tails. Growing to a height of 30cm it prefers a location that receives full sun to part shade. This plant is perfect for the edges of walkways, borders and driveways or grow it in a meadow garden. Flowers are excellent fresh or dried in floral arrangements.
I just scatter seeds after the danger of frost has passed. The seeds are best left on the surface of the soil as they need sunlight to germinate. Seeds can be started indoors and transplanted when they are around 10cm in height. Seeds will begin to germinate within 7 to 14 days after sowing. Flowering will occur in around 14 weeks.
Dyed Bunny Tail Grass is very popular in floral arrangements and it is so easy to do at home.
Add some food colouring to jars of water. Insert the "bunny tails" into the coloured water and leave for approximately 5 minutes.
Remove and leave to drain. It is easier to drape the grass over something. Once most of the water has drained, hang the grass to COMPLETELY dry.
Yep, it is that easy!
