Cosmos Apricot Lemonade

Cosmos Apricot Lemonade

30 open pollinated seeds from our gardens.

Apricot Lemonade Cosmos is a variety that doesn't reach the overbearing heights of its cousins. Usually growing to between 70-100 cm and about half as wide,  it can be grown in and around other flowers and shrubs. The flowers open and change from an apricot with sometimes a pink ring to palest lemon, so you will have different colours on the plant at the one time, as progressive buds open.

Cosmos are half-hardy annuals that grow, flower, set seed and die all in one year, but unlike hardy annuals, they can’t withstand low temperatures.

Cosmos are quick and easy to grow from seed, flowering in as little as 12 weeks.  They are perfect for meadow gardens, cottage gardens and will bring the beneficial insects to your garden.  Pinch when about 30cm tall. Full sun. Spacing 30cm. apart.

Seeds can be started indoors or in a greenhouse and carefully transplanted when the weather warms up.  Or you can just scatter the seeds after the last frost.

Cosmos are an excellent cut flower with a vase life of 7 - 10 days, pick the stems in the early morning or late afternoon when the first buds are starting to open.
