Note: Frequently changes colour. Buds open into almost purple colour that transforms to lilac and later to blue. The wings of the flowers are pale blue in colour with light tints at the edges. From a distance, the flowers appear to be brilliant blue when mature.
The 'Captain of the Blues' is a deeper version of 'Countess Cadogan'.
