Echinops bannaticus ‘Taplow Blue’ is the best of the taller globe flowers with spherical flower heads up to 7cm in diameter. These steel-blue buds open into large balls of powdery mauve-blue when in full flower. It also features bold divided foliage and stiff vertical stems. An excellent plant to an architectural feature to your garden. Cut back to the ground in summer when the first flowers are finished and you will be rewarded by another display in autumn. Grow in full sun and well drained soil. This plant is drought tolerant once established. Height 150cm.

Seeds are sown after the last frost. You can either direct sow or start seeds in pots. Cover the seeds lightly with potting mix / soil as they need some light to germinate. Give the seeds a good watering. Keep the seeds damp not wet. Germination should occur around 10 to 14 days. Grow the plants until they have their third set of true leaves before planting out into the garden.
