Lathyrus clymenum 'Chelsea' - Spanish Pea
Colour - mauve/lavender bicolour flowers
Variety - annual
Scent – nil
Sow – spring
Height - approx .5m
Note: Second photo shows that the tendrils for this plant appear at the end of the leaves.
History: Parsons 1996
Grow: Spring. Sow directly after danger of frost has passed. It is remommond to soak most annual species for 24 hours. However, I haven't had an issue with sowing without soaking. Seeds are sown to a depth of 2cm into moist well-drained soil with a spacing of approximately 8cm. Germination takes 7-21 days.
Note: These flowers are much smaller than the Lathyrus odoratus flowers.and should be deadheaded regularly to prolong the flowering season.
