Salvia moorcroftiana is a herbaceous perennial native to the Himalayan mountains from Pakistan to western Nepal, and is especially common in the Kashmir Valley.

Salvia moorcroftiana is a perennial growing to 0.9 m by 0.5 m. The species is hermaphrodite (has both male and female organs) and is pollinated by bees. 

Suitable for light (sandy) and medium (loamy) soils and prefers well-drained soil. Suitable pH: acid, neutral and basic (alkaline) soils. It cannot grow in the shade. It prefers dry or moist soil.
