Veronica Spicata is a hardy perennial with a low, compact and mat-forming habit that makes it well-suited as a ground cover plant. Flower spikes, of violet-blue appear during the warmer months. These are highly attractive to bees and butterflies. This plant prefers full sun but will tolerate partial shade. Veronica Spicata is not fussy about soil so long as it well draining. Plants grow to around 80cm.
Excellent cut flower
Sow seeds in autumn. Using a good quality potting mix carefully place the seed and gently cover with a fine layer of potting mix, seeds need some light to germinate. Germination takes 4-6 weeks at 15 - 20C. Once seedlings have reached a height of approximately 10cm, they can be planted out into the garden. Seeds can also be directly sown.
